Today I have Part 3 for you in my series of posts on how to build an effective Back-Link system.
Top Methods Of Building Back‐links # 3
ARTICLE MARKETING BACK‐LINKS
Article marketing is an exceptional technique at generating a flood of high quality back links to your website quickly and easily. All you really need to get started create 10‐15 articles that combine your keywords within the titles of each article as well as the actual content.
Each article should be about 300-400 words in length and whenever possible, try to focus on submitting original, high quality material, or at the very least, well written private label content (although not every article directory will allow private label content to be submitted).
You begin by submitting your articles into the major directories, beginning with www.EzineArticles.com and then a day later, submitting the same articles into a number of other directories.
Each article is “tagged” with your back‐link by creating an author’s resource box that is attached to your article submissions.
Author resource boxes are often the only place where a back‐link is permitted, so you need to ensure that your actual article content is compelling and focused on retaining your readers attention long enough to direct them to your resource box featured at the end of the article.
With article marketing, the greater the number of articles in circulation, the more exposure you will receive from both your article directory profile and author resource boxes.
The power of article marketing comes from the authority and weight that the major directories receive from the search engines.
Since many of the articles featured on sites like EzineArticles.com end up in the top search results within search engines like Google.com if you are able to create an article that incorporates your primary keywords, you will be able to effectively rank for some of the most competitive keywords and phrases in your market!
Furthermore, since article directories allow for other webmasters to reprint your articles (retaining your author’s resource box), you can easily generate additional traffic from every website that features your content.
It’s truly an amazing system for generating prime traffic while building an unlimited number of quality back-links from people who reprint and feature your article content.
Do you write and submit articles to help your business? do you find it gets you many backlinks? I would love to hear from you so as I always say please leave your comments below.
To your success

I am just about to start sending out my articles to the various article directories out there so have found your post really timely and helpful, thanks. I did want to ask about your recommended article length of 300 – 400 words. I use SEOpressor plugin in my WP site and it says that articles get ranked better when they are 700 words and over.
I’d love to get your thoughts on that as I’m always open to learn from others who have been blogging for way longer than me.
Thanks again,
Lynn

Hi Lynn

Thanks for stopping by, it’s nice to see you here
I think the minimum length should be about 300-400 words but there are times when longer articles like 400-800 words are better, I like to average about 500. Good luck with your articles!
Hope you have a great weekend

It has been a while since I did any article marketing and I’ve done very little for me as me not under a pen name…
I don’t actually write for backlinks any more, but to push people through to an optin. The article directories work quite well for that especially if your article is picked up and syndicated or used as email content.
Touching on article length, from experience it depends what you are writing for. Shorter articles are great as a push to an optin direct from an article directory. Longer articles tend to get picked up and syndicated – more exposure and more backlinks too

Hi Jan
Thanks for stopping by again, do you have more success with your articles using them for an optin? I would love to know how that works for you. At the moment I only use mine for backlinks but your idea sounds good, I will have to try it so thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend

Hi Pauline, it has been a while since I did any article syndication and then it was a couple to quickly get stuff out there.
No doubt when I do make my own products (or promote affiliate products) I’ll be back to clattering at the keyboard and seeing what works!
Before that writing under pen names, I found that my “sweet spot” was 7-800 words and spending a bit of time getting the article written. I used submit your article, and again spent some time on the re-writing section.
It wasn’t “seo writing” as such since KW density was usually hovering at 0.7-1% (which is more than enough for Google anyway).
Nothing was forced but the keyword phrase put in the title then top, middle and bottom with variations and related words where they fit too – the focus was more on readability than search as these types of articles tended to get picked up more and used on other high reader sites or mailing lists. So the switch was not writing for rankings in article directories but exposure.
Then linked back to a landing page very specific to the topic in the article. I rarely used basic squeeze pages but longer form, almost sales letter type page with optins top and bottom.
To be honest, I haven’t tested this type out with MLBO – I have been incredibly lazy with it
The shorter articles around 3-400 words could quite easily be churned out and sent to various article directories. I sent these back to a squeeze page sometimes with an additional raw link to read more on a blog post, and that worked quite well despite breaking the golden rule of only using 1 call to action.
How this quickfire writing would work now with all the Google changes I couldn’t tell you!
It does come back to playing around and seeing what works in your area of business
