Like many other marketers out there I have collected a lot of PLR and what am I doing with it? well to be honest a lot of it is just collecting dust on my hard drive! I am always saying to myself I must clean up my downloads and DO something with all that PLR so I am going to share with you how to use it.
The first thing you need to do is sort through your PLR and choose an article you wish to use.
Read through the article to get a feel for the flow and tone of what has been
written. Ask yourself:
1. What do I like?
2. What would I change?
3. What would I add?
4. Does the article inspire, inform, and/or provide value for readers?
Re-structure the content to match your personal style, as if you were the one
speaking.
1. Tell personal stories to identify with your audience.
2. What is unique about you?
3. What is your story?
4. What stories can I draw upon to augment the article?
5. What are 5 things that most people don’t know about you?
Rewrite the title so it reflects a slightly different angle on the same material.
For example:
1. Original: “7 Tips to List Building”
2. Rewrite #1: “7 Things You Can Do To Build Your List”
3. Rewrite #2: “Deliver a Knock Out Punch to List Building in 7 Steps”
4. Rewrite #3: “The 7 Minute Guide to List Building”
Write an introductory paragraph or summary paragraph
1. What is one key point to this article, or what will the reader learn?
Emphasize that in your introduction.
2. What do you want the reader to take away from the article? Summarize
those points in a final paragraph.
3. How do you want the reader to feel about the subject?
4. Add a bulleted list for an executive summary.
5. Encourage comments by asking for feedback as a final thought.
Add additional information you find through research.
1. Look for current events, news, or relevant topics on sites that post
frequent updates and have search capabilities.
2. Check niche forums to see what topics are being discussed that relate to
your article.
3. Check what’s trending on Twitter to see what the most popular updates
are, and search for tweets using primary keywords.
4. Look at article directories for more information on the topic.
Ensure your article is optimized for readability:
1. Keep the paragraphs short, easy-to-read, and direct.
2. Break up paragraphs longer than 3-4 lines into separate paragraphs.
3. Ensure you include formatting such as bold or italics for emphasis.
4. Use large sub-headlines to break up the text into easy-to-skim sections.
5. Use bullet points and numbered lists to organize your ideas easily.
6. Add a relevant image before publishing your article on WordPress.
Use keywords in your article for SEO (search engine optimization) and to match the primary keywords you’re targeting for your website.
Example: If your primary keyword is “how to build your list,” ensure you
mention that keyword a couple times throughout the article.
Specifically:
1. Use the keyword in your title
2. Use the keyword again in the first paragraph of the body
3. Use the keyword again once or twice in the article
4. Do not over-use the keyword as it will look like “keyword spam”
Add a Call-to-Action at the end of the content:
Keep it simple, short, and focused on the specific step you want the
reader to take next.
Example:
Tired of Having No List?
How To Build A List From Scratch
A Step By Step Guide To Build Your List
yourdomain.com/buildalist
Repurpose your PLR in many ways:
1. Post the content to your WordPress blog
2. Post a snippet of the content in your email autoresponders
3. Create PowerPoint slides and record a video to publish on YouTube
4. Use the content to answer questions on forums related to your niche
5. Take snippets from the re-written article and post on social media sites
So now go and dust off that PLR you have on your hard drive and get started on rewriting and publishing it. I would love to see some of your finished results so please send me your links so I can share it with others.
Please leave any comments if you have anything to add I would love to hear them.
To your success
Thanks for reading
Pauline

Hi Pauline
This is a great post and as long as people do not try to republish the PLR without changing it they will do Ok.
A lot of new marketers just take the PLR and change the name and/or graphics without changing the content in any way and thus destroy their reputation before they get going.
If anyone follows through what you say they will have unique articles that they can use for blog posts or combine into ebooks for use to build their lists.

Hi Richard
Thanks for stopping by! Yes a big mistake that many new marketers make is to take PLR and not change it in any way except the name, they need some guidance on this so that is why I have written this post.
Have a great day

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for sharing! PLR does have a lot of potential if you use it right. It can really help you out when you experience writers block or just plain run out of ideas. The best part about it is… it’s free and easy to find!
Thanks again,

Hi Pauline
PLR is so versatile, but you must rewrite it. It is however, one of the only things you can copy without infringing the copyright.

Hi Pauline.
What a great idea. Shame I just cleaned up my site and got rid of most of mine.
The thing that struck me when reading this was that it was obviously good enough to tempt me so making it better could definately tempt others.
Thank’s for sharing this interesting notion.

Great tips Pauline, I could have used this advice some time back. I also don’t use any of my PLR anymore because I must admit, they’re mostly junk.
You have really shared some awesome tips for making it fresh again. I just love your suggestions. You’ve definitely given me a good bit to think about!
Thank you and have a fabulous day!

Hi Adrienne
yes a lot of PLR is junk but for anyone just starting out it can be useful to them, if they rewrite it but often they don’t so I wanted to let them know that you need to do this as just publishing it without changing anything is not a good way to start your business.
Have a great day

Hi Pauline,
Great article on how to spruce up that ol’ PLR!
I was thrilled to learn that such a thing existed when I first started blogging. It kind of boggled my mind that there were so many ways to get content to share on our sites.
I never quite understood why some wouldn’t take a little time to invest in making that PLR “their own.” I have found that there are so many ways to repurpose that PLR so that it rings of my own voice and ultimately that is the only way I’ll use it.
Fantastic ideas here, I can tell you’ve had some good experience in this area!

HI Cat
thanks for stopping by!
There are endless ways to use PLR and yes it amazes me why people are not willing to rewrite it to make it their own, they do not realize that it will benefit them in the long run.
Hope you have a great weekend

Hey Pauline,
Some great tip inside that article. coming for a PLR background myself I know all to well the power of PLR and what you can do with it.
Whatever you do with the PLR, you should always make it your own and take a little time to add your own spin on it. The more you add the more value your PLR has.
You can bundle it, you can bonus it, you can re-package it, you can MP3 it, you DVD it, you can Kindle it, the uses are virtually unlimited.
Thanks for sharing Pauline.

Hi Dan
It always amazes me when I see that people use PLR without changing anything! they must make it their own in order to see any results, it only takes a little of your time and it is so worth it!
Great tips about making it into MP3 or DVD’s I missed these lol
Hope you have a great week Dan.

Hi Pauline,
Great rundown on reworking PLR! Like Dan, I come from a PLR background too. One thing I like to tell people is it’s a good idea to purchase PLR with a purpose already in mind. That way they’re more likely to use it.
Also, challenging yourself to buy PLR and then use it within 48 hours is not only kind of fun, but beneficial to your bottom line. The more you rework PLR, the easier it becomes and the faster you can do it.
Cheers,
Peggy

Great idea you mentioned about having a purpose in mind for your PLR before you buy it, yes then you know what you are going to do with it and can get down to rewriting it as soon as you get it.
Have a great day and hope you come back for another visit soon
