Normally when I sit at my desk to write my blog posts the view I can see is the ocean (as you may know I live on a Greek island) and the mountains but today we are having bad weather so the sea looks angry and the mountains are covered in snow, yes we do have snow in Greece!
Instead of taking a break from my work and go for a walk along the beach I want to tell you all about squeeze pages.
A squeeze page is simply designed to give visitors to your site a simple choice – either optin to receive information that you are offering or they can leave.
There are different ways of using squeeze pages but one of the most common ways to use them is as a “landing page”.
A landing page is almost like a mini-salesletter that has a powerful headline and outlines a few key benefits that your product/information offers to the reader. It’s designed to wet their appetite so that they will want to find out more information.
Once they subscribe or buy, the squeeze page you create should then take them to a thank you page, which opens up more ways you can up-sell. One quick way to up-sell is to simply include advertisements on your thank you page for related affiliate products or for your own products. Here again, you will want to give them a one-time offer.
You don’t have to use all of these means to generate income but the more you use, the more you earn in general.
The 4 main ingredients of a squeeze page are:
1) Attention-getter (Headline)
2) Benefits (What they get and how it helps them)
3) Call to action (Enter your name and email)
4) Opt-in form
How much information should you collect?
I have found in my experience the more information you collect, the smaller the percentage of visitors that will opt in, the less information you collect, the greater the percentage of opt-ins.
On the other hand I have heard some marketers say the more information you collect the more valuable the lead. (More ways to market to them) we all have our own opinions and experiences it is a matter of split-testing to see which works for you.
What to giveaway on your squeeze page
This can be a number of things like:
1 article
2 video
3 newsletter/ezine
4 e-course
5 report
6 ebook
7 membership
8 software
Give away something of VALUE to your prospect that will…
1 truly help them
2 prove your credibility
3 build their trust
4 leave them thirsting for more (so you can sell your product)
What kind of people do you want on your list? (Who is your ideal prospect?)
What you give away will affect who ends up on your list. Give away something that will attract your IDEAL prospect.
One of the main things you need before you get started is an autoresponder.
Without an autoresponder you could be losing a lot of money. Rather than creating a relationship with customers and potential customers – and giving yourself the opportunity to attempt future up-sales you’re allowing them to leave and never return.

Tips on Increasing Your Squeeze Page Conversion Rate
There are three major ways in which you can create your Squeeze Page conversion rate.
The first way in which you can increase your conversion rate is through personalization.
This is usually done in two ways: the first way is by providing a photo of yourself. The second way is by adding your signature to the bottom of your Squeeze Page.
This radically increases visitors’ trust. Most people who resist buying products online do so because they’re weary of getting scammed by a faceless liar, who wont be around when they need help or when they need to return the product.
By adding your picture and signature, you can significantly increase a gain
in your visitors’ trust.
The second way in which you can increase your Squeeze Page conversion rate is by using black text or a white layout. Regardless of what anyone tells you, this is one of the easiest ways in which to make your page look professional, rather than pathetic or desperate.
The third way in which you can gain trust is by offering something for free.
This is generally what you will do if you’re using a squeeze page to generate leads, you’ll offer a free report or five-day course – and then use that to generate leads, which you will later up-sell or generate revenue from via affiliate sales. Why is this technique so effective?
Quite simply because it allows them to judge your work and ideas before they actually have to pay for them. Again it builds trust.
Driving Targeted Traffic To Your Squeeze Page
Driving traffic into your squeeze page – it sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not and no matter how great your squeeze page is, it wont matter if no one ever reads it.
One way in which you can drive traffic to your squeeze page is through natural
search engine optimization. This is the slowest process, but it is also one of the best ways to ensure a continually increasing stream of traffic over time.
Another way in which you can drive traffic is through blog and forum posting; however, it is important that you do not spam.
Instead, actually participate on the forum, provide people with something of value, and after a while post your product in your signature – and try to network with people on the forum who work in similar fields.
Your approach to blog posting should be similar. Include a signature file that links back to your squeeze page, but again don’t spam, instead post useful comments.
This is not only more ethical, but it is plainly more effective, spam gets deleted, good comments get praised, inducing people to follow your link and check out your products.
To help you with your first squeeze page I have 3 Squeeze Page Templates that I would like to give you.

Hi Pauline, that’s a great description of squeeze pages and how to use them correctly.
I have a few offers going via squeeze pages and one of them rotates between two types of page: The sexy one with all the graphics and a plain one with a white background and black text. So far I think the plain one is in the lead regarding opt-ins.
I also have an opt-in form beneath all of my posts which is pretty plain and just states what the offer is.
A great way of driving traffic to them is to create videos about what’s on offer and place them on YouTube.
Thanks Pauline,
Barry

Yes I have found the plain squeeze pages work better for me too, good old black & white!
I see that you have an opt-in form below your posts I might have to try that, does it work well for you?
Have a great day

Hi Pauline
I have a WordPress plug in for squeeze pages, butg haven’t used it yet. I want a squeeze page on my existing blog which I think I may be able to do.
I can’t afford to keep buying domain names but also want to keep the offers for each blog together.

Hi Pauline,
I have an eBook that I want to start selling (outside of Amazon) and for some reason I am just having a heck of a time setting mine up.
I really don’t want it to be a long drawn out sales page – I personally can’t stand reading them, but maybe that is not the way it should be? What do you think?
And then like you said the traffic – getting it all set up and looking nice will not instantly bring you traffic and traffic is not easy to obtain

Hi Linda
I personally don’t like really long drawn out sales pages, I think it’s better to have all the relative information in a short page so your potential buyers will know what the benefits are without having to scroll down loads and loads of text, I get bored!!
As for traffic which like you said is not easy to obtain, mail out to your list, get it out on your social networks, have an opt-in form on your blog (or do a blog post about it) and maybe ask a couple of people to send out a Tweet about it for you (send me a link and I will do one for you
)
Good luck with it, let me know how it’s going!
Have a great weekend

I agree with Barry Pauline, great description of squeeze pages. I know a lot of people get them confused because there are so many different names for them.
I’ve tested quite a few as well and the plain ones beat out the fancy graphics every single time which just goes to show me that don’t spend your money on the fancy one because you’ll regret spending the money.
I also have an opt-in box right below my post as well and it converts very well. Barry actually showed me the plug-in I needed to install to place it there too.
Thanks for this great post Pauline and hope you’re enjoying your week. Snow or sun!

The sun is back so hopefully it will stick around this time
Hope your weekend is good

Hi Pauline
Great advice, when I join a list I want to know who I’m going to be getting emails from. The 4th thing I would add is to make it obvious that you’re giving something away for free, and make the opt-in form blindingly obvious.
If you’re not really technical then it may be worth keeping a swipe file of the best squeezepages you find, and then paying someone to replicate the common features.
Also if you’re really not technical you can use a site called adkreator which also removes the need for hosting, all you need to do is copy and paste in the aweber code.
Hope you don’t mind, but here is an example page you could create – www.adkreator.com/squeezepagehit.php?bid=44455&sp=Y

Hi Pauline,
Squeeze pages are really great and truly ingenious. If you put them together correctly, they are very powerful. One problem I see is that some people try too hard when it seems like the simple, plain pages perform better.
I like your suggestion about personalization. It makes sense, yet not a lot of people take advantage of the opportunity to reach those unsure of dealing with someone without a face.
Great tips!
Thanks a lot.
Talk again soon,

Hi Pauline,
Very informative article and I absolutely love your graphics! Did you make them yourself?
I know the opinions vary on how much information to ask for on your squeeze page. I have found the less, the better. But it is also true that the quality of the lead diminishes the less information you ask from them.
So it’s a question of what you want….quality or quantity?
Be blessed,
Ilka
